RR Opague
Rüdiger · Philipp Neumeyer · 2025

A postmodern geometric sans in nine weights with italics, drawing on historical grotesque precedents with contemporary precision.
About
Opague is shaped by a circular 'O' and enforced horizontal lines through its apertures and midpoints, giving it a hard, even typographic colour. Nine weights run from Thin to Black, each with a matching 15° italic, with a variable font included. Over 1000 glyphs per style cover Latin, Cyrillic and Greek across 280+ languages, with case-sensitive punctuation, multiple figure sets and ten stylistic sets.
Classification
Circular 'O' forms and strongly horizontal apertures create a hard, even rhythm at low contrast. Postmodern sensibility referencing nineteenth-century grotesques including Bernard Brothers & Spindler's Lining Gothic nº82 and Bauer's Venus.
