Royale specimen from Resistenza Type

A monoline Victorian Tuscan display face with bifurcated serifs and eight layerable weights across four widths, including Condensed, Compressed, Italic, Rough, Outline and Shadow cuts.

About

Royale reinvents the bifurcated Tuscan genre with a monoline construction, rounded terminals and elaborate decorative spurs drawn from Victorian-era display printing. The family spans eight numerically named weights across at least three widths — Regular, Condensed and Compressed — with italic variants and special styles (Outline, Shadow, Rough) designed to be stacked for polychromatic effects. Designed by Giuseppe Salerno and Paco González, it suits poster work, packaging and heritage-inflected branding where period character is the brief.

Classification

Monoline Tuscan display with bifurcated decorative serifs and rounded terminals, drawing directly from Victorian-era display typography. Designed to be layered across widths for polychromatic effects. Not a revival — a contemporary reinterpretation of the genre with a warmer, more playful register.
