A tall, condensed Art Deco sans from the concrete lettering on the gates of Saigon's Bến Thành Market.
About
Westgate is drawn from the concrete letters on the north, east and west gates of Bến Thành Market, added during its mid-century renovation. Its elongated, geometric forms come from French colonial Art Deco, and the Vietnamese diacritics sit inside the letter heights so they stay legible.
Classification
An elegant condensed Art Deco sans with tall proportions and geometric details, based on the concrete lettering of Bến Thành Market's gates, with Vietnamese diacritics built into the letterforms.
