R41 Olympia specimen from Reber R41

A digitisation of Aldo Novarese's little-known 1987 Greek dry-transfer typeface, with a Latin alphabet extrapolated from the original drawings by Dan Rhatigan.

About

Originally designed by Novarese in 1987 exclusively for the Greek dry-transfer market on commission from R41, the typeface remained largely unknown until this digitisation project. Dan Rhatigan was invited to derive the missing Latin alphabet from Novarese's original Greek drawings, producing a result that makes the family available to a far wider audience. The family spans seven weights from Extra Light to Heavy, each with a matching italic, totalling 14 styles.

Classification

Originally a Greek-script display face by Novarese, the digitisation with a newly extrapolated Latin alphabet by Dan Rhatigan exhibits humanist sans characteristics with optical warmth across seven weights.
