Based on an undated display type specimen from the historic Nebiolo foundry in Turin, Popera revives the 'italiano' reverse-contrast tradition in which horizontal elements are markedly heavier than vertical ones. Wide, squared letterforms combine with heavy slab serifs softened by rounded junctions, giving the face a character that transcends the western or circus genre it might superficially suggest. The family includes a decorative Ornato variant alongside the Regular.
