Nova Gotica
Reber R41 · Aldo Novarese · 1989

A late-career blackletter by Aldo Novarese, commissioned in 1988 to renew the medieval gothic tradition with forms that balance historical convention and typographic invention.
About
Commissioned by R41 in 1988 and released in 1989, Nova Gotica emerged from Aldo Novarese's ambition to reconcile the ornamental heritage of gothic type with genuinely new letterforms. The result retains the classical appearance expected of the genre while introducing shapes that distinguish it from straight revivals. Currently available in a single Regular weight.
Classification
