PSY/OPS Type Foundry · Steve Mehallo

A nine-font display family synthesising Bodoni Italic with 19th-century Fat Face extremes and early Modernist geometry, designed by Steve Mehallo for PSY/OPS.
About
Drawing on the historical moment of around 1918, the design fuses the high-contrast stroke drama of Bodoni and Fat Face tradition with the geometric sensibility of the Futurists, Constructivists and Bauhaus practitioners. The family spans Roman, Bold and Ultra weights with matching italics, two Titling cuts optimised for large-scale setting, and a distinctive Geometrique variant. Western and Eastern European character sets are included, alongside stylistic alternates and ligatures.
Classification
A high-contrast display family synthesising Bodoni Italic's extreme stroke contrast with 19th-century Fat Face weight and early 20th-century Modernist geometry; the Geometrique variant and titling cuts confirm its primary role as a display type.
