Default Gothic
PSY/OPS Type Foundry · RXC · 1996

A 1996 geometric sans in three width gauges, drawn from the visual character of Apple's Chicago system font but reworked with super-elliptical structures and finer terminals.
About
Designed by RXC and released in 1996, Default Gothic takes the distinctive letterforms of Apple's Chicago font as a starting point before diverging considerably in refinement and proportion. Super-elliptical body structures, delicate terminals and a narrower aspect distinguish it from its inspiration. The family spans six fonts across three widths and matching italics, with Western and Eastern European character support, ligatures and stylistic alternates throughout.
Classification
A geometric sans with super-elliptical body structures and delicate terminals, loosely inspired by Apple's Chicago system font. The three 'gauge' widths and distinctive letterforms place it firmly in the geometric sans tradition with a digital-era character.
