Deadwood
PSY/OPS Type Foundry · Philip Krayna and RXC

A six-style Egyptian display family drawing on 19th-century American slab-serif tradition, offered in three widths – Halfwide, Singlewide and Doublewide – each in Light and Heavy.
About
Deadwood revives the bold, blocky character of Victorian-era American Egyptians, a genre associated with wood-type broadsheets and frontier advertising. The three widths give designers flexibility from relatively compact to expansive letterforms, while the two weights per width keep the palette tightly focused. Western European and Central European character sets are included alongside ligatures.
Classification
A vintage 19th-century American Egyptian revival, characterised by heavy slab serifs and bold display proportions across three widths. The Egyptian genre is a slab-serif category, and this design sits firmly within the display end of that tradition.
