On a mission to create the world’s biggest index of typefaces from the world’s best type foundries

displaypixel / bitmapmono
Bitblox specimen from PSY/OPS Type Foundry

A pixel-grid display family built on fixed matrices, evoking early computing and arcade typography through eight layerable fonts that support 3D effects, outlines and multi-colour stacking.

About

Each character is constructed on a rigid pixel grid – seven pixels tall in the Regular, expanding to ten in the Dimensional variant – giving the forms a deliberate, constrained quality characteristic of early console and terminal graphics. The eight-font system is designed for layering: stacking styles on top of one another enables 3D effects, drop shadows, outlines and multi-colour treatments. Coverage includes Western and Eastern European characters, mathematical symbols and an extended dingbat set, with the Monospace weight available free for personal use.

Classification

A pixel-grid display typeface built on fixed matrices (7px for Regular, 10px for Dimensional), drawing directly from the visual language of early computing and arcade game typography. Its modular, raster-derived construction places it firmly in the bitmap/pixel display subcategory.
