Armchair Modern
PSY/OPS Type Foundry · Stefan Kjartansson and RXC · 2001

A five-weight geometric display family derived from a 2001 logo design, built around super-elliptical letterforms that recall Scandinavian modernism and the rounded contours of CRT television screens.
About
Designed by Stefán Kjartansson from a logo originally created for Armchair Media Group, the family spans five weights named A through E Gauge, from ultra-light to dark. The super-elliptical letterforms draw consciously from mid-century designers such as Arne Jacobsen and Marc Newson, giving the typeface a clean, domestic-futuristic character. Western and Eastern European character sets are included, along with stylistic alternates.
Classification
Super-elliptical letterforms with a pronounced modernist geometric character, derived from a logo design and explicitly evoking mid-century Scandinavian design and CRT screen shapes. The ultra-clean, rounded forms place it firmly in geometric display territory.
