Armature Neue
PSY/OPS Type Foundry · Bob Aufuldish · 1997

Bob Aufuldish's constructed monoline display face, expanded from the 1997 original Armature into twelve styles across six weights with matching italics.
About
Originally begun in 1992 and first released in 1997, Armature Neue redistributes the weight range more evenly and adds Extra Light and Black with their italics, bringing the family from four to twelve fonts. Despite its monoline construction, subtle optical corrections throughout prevent the visual monotony typical of strictly uniform stroke widths. Alternate characters allow the face to function in text settings, and each font includes Western and Eastern European character sets, ligatures, stylistic alternates and a set of dinosaur-themed dingbats.
Classification
A constructed, near-monoline geometric display face with subtle optical corrections to compensate for the visual uniformity of monolines. Originally conceived for display use, with alternate characters for text setting.
