Anziano Pro specimen from PSY/OPS Type Foundry

A text serif by Stefan Hattenbach offering three styles with smallcaps, multiple numeral sets and ornaments, drawing loose inspiration from Emil Rudolph Weiss' 1926 type while favouring a more structured, Cartesian axis.

About

The third text typeface from Hattenbach, Anziano Pro follows Tarocco and Delicato in the designer's development of a refined text serif vocabulary. Regular, Italic and Bold styles are accompanied by lining, tabular, oldstyle and smallcap numerals, stylistic ligatures, ornaments and extended Latin accents. Smallcaps are available across both the Regular and Bold weights, giving the family respectable typographic range for book and editorial setting.

Classification

A text serif with Cartesian rather than calligraphic proportions, placing it closer to transitional models than the humanist tradition. The designer cites Emil Rudolph Weiss' 1926 Weiss-Antiqua as a reference point, though Anziano diverges from that calligraphic heritage toward a more upright, constructed axis.
