On a mission to create the world’s biggest index of typefaces from the world’s best type foundries

sans-serifinformal hand-lettered
Vitrines specimen from PintassilgoPrints

A revival of a hand-lettered sans-serif alphabet taken from a 1913 window-sign lettering manual, issued in two weights with an accompanying pattern tile set.

About

The letterforms retain the casual, uneven quality of their source, giving text an authentic period feel suited to architectural drawings, comic books and film titles. Two weights — Regular and Bold — are supplemented by a Pattern style containing decorative tiles for borders and compositional ornament. OpenType features include fractions and ordinal numerals across a broad Latin language range.

Classification

Derived from a hand-lettered alphabet published in a 1913 book on window signs and show cards, Vitrines sits firmly in the informal, hand-written sans category, preserving the organic irregularity of its source material rather than conforming to geometric or grotesque traditions.
