Roadway specimen from PintassilgoPrints

A three-style Clarendon revival drawn from late 19th-century wood types, offered in Normal, Condensed and decorative Tuscan cuts.

About

Roadway draws on the heavy bracketed serifs and sturdy proportions of Victorian-era Clarendon wood types, lending it an appropriately antique character suited to large-scale display work. The family spans three styles: a standard cut, a condensed variant for tighter settings, and a Tuscan version with bifurcated serifs for more ornamental applications. Posters, album covers, food packaging and editorial headlines are natural territory, though the range of styles gives it broader versatility.

Classification

A wood-type revival in the Clarendon tradition, characterised by heavy bracketed serifs and sturdy stroke contrast typical of 19th-century display slab serifs. The Tuscan variant adds decorative bifurcated serifs, a hallmark of Victorian wood type.
