Positioned as a contemporary counterpart to Albertus, Raxmus emulates the incised quality of chisel-cut lettering while offering a generous x-height suited to both display and body copy use. The family spans Thin to Black with matching italics across 18 fonts, supported by four stylistic sets covering swashes, discretionary ligatures, swash ligatures and extended descenders. Small caps, over 69 standard and discretionary ligatures, and a character set of 850-plus glyphs extend its typographic utility across all Latin European languages.
Classification
A flared serif with roots in stone-carved lettering, closely related to the lapidary tradition exemplified by Berthold Wolpe's Albertus. Flared serifs (also called incised or glyphic serifs) sit between classical serifs and sans-serifs, characterised by triangular stroke terminals derived from chisel or engraving techniques.
