Ribbon specimen from ParaType

A caps-only decorative display typeface from 1994 with octagonal letterforms rendered in a two-tone ribbon effect combining solid fills and outlined counters.

About

Designed by Igor Nastenko at his Design Studio in 1994, Ribbon uses heavily geometric, chamfered letterforms that alternate between solid black masses and outlined voids to create a layered ribbon illusion. The family comprises just two styles: a Black&White Bold and an Outline variant. Available in capitals only, it sits squarely in the decorative and imitation display category.

Classification

The specimen shows highly geometric, octagonal letterforms with a bold inline/outline ribbon effect. Chunky, angular construction with strong contrast between filled and unfilled areas places this firmly in decorative display territory.
