A display-oriented reworking of the DIN 1451 standard lettering, distinguished from its text counterpart by sharper corners, true designed italics and ascending lowercase letters that overtop the capitals.
About
Originally completed in 2002 and first published in Parachute's IDEA catalogue in 2003, this Pro revision extends the family to seven weights with matching italics and adds multilingual support and OpenType features throughout. Unlike many DIN derivatives, the italics are purpose-drawn rather than mechanically obliqued, and the lowercase ascenders intentionally exceed cap height. Each style is supplemented with 270 copyright-free symbols covering packaging, transport, fabric care and urban signage categories.
Classification
Rooted in the DIN 1451 standard lettering system, PF Din Display Pro adopts the geometric, constructed character of the original while introducing sharper corners and true drawn italics, placing it firmly in the geometric sans tradition.
