A formal calligraphic script derived from the manuscripts of 18th-century English calligrapher Joseph Champion, with 4,280 glyphs per weight covering Latin, Greek and Cyrillic scripts.
About
Developed over two and a half years and first shown at the ICTVC in 2007, each of the two weights contains an extensive glyph set including four sets of swash capitals, small caps, 117 ornaments and frames, plus a wide array of ligatures and alternates for all supported languages. OpenType programming applies contextual alternates automatically to preserve a handwritten quality, while characters were deliberately made less inclined and less condensed than the 18th-century originals to improve legibility. The design also accounts for demanding print conditions, with connecting strokes weighted to withstand reproduction on specialist papers.
Classification
A formal calligraphic script based on 18th-century English manuscript writing by Joseph Champion, with upright and connected letterforms across two weights. Its cursive joins, swash capitals and ornamental repertoire place it squarely in the calligraphic script category.
