A felt-pen handwriting sans in three styles, designed by Zakhar Yaschin and inspired by Erik van Blockland's FF Kosmik, balancing ragged irregularity with surprising legibility at small sizes.
About
Sketched with a felted pen and later digitised, Nazhdak occupies the territory between regular and irregular typefaces, with loose, crude letterforms that resist convention without sacrificing readability. At small sizes it holds together well; at large sizes its rough character becomes the dominant feature. Suited to informal text compositions and display use, it was designed in 2001 and released by ParaType in 2009.
Classification
A hand-drawn sans serif sketched with a felt pen, sitting between script and sans-serif categories due to its informal, irregular letterforms and handwriting origins rather than calligraphic or brush tradition.
