A decorative display typeface with elaborate spiral bowls and cross-stroke flourishes, derived from David Sagorski's Bang for Letraset and released in three weights.
About
Designed by Victoria Grigorenko at TypeMarket in 1997, Funny adapts the exuberant letterforms of Letraset's Bang into a three-weight family. Each character features tightly wound spiral counters, circular terminals and multiple cross-strokes that give the alphabet an almost runic, hand-drawn character. The result suits playful editorial contexts such as children's books and youth magazines.
Classification
The specimen shows highly ornate, swirling letterforms with spiral bowls, cross-stroke flourishes and circular terminals – clearly a display typeface in the decorative/novelty tradition, based on Letraset's Bang by David Sagorski.
