Published by TypeAssociates and sold through ParaType, Freemantle exists in just two styles – Regular and Black. The Black weight, as seen in the specimen, is broad and densely weighted with tightly closed apertures and minimal stroke contrast. Its origins are described as obscure, the result of numerous reworkings over many years.
Classification
The specimen shows a tightly-spaced, high-contrast grotesque with wide letterforms, very heavy stroke weight and minimal apertures – consistent with a display grotesque intended for poster or headline use.
