A light, hand-drawn display face by Alexandra Korolkova that uses OpenType alternates and discretionary ligatures to produce an organic, lace-like texture.
About
Released by ParaType in 2010, Airy is an informal collection of hand-lettered characters whose OpenType features generate a continuously mutable lace structure across text. A companion Pictures style includes a set of naive margin doodles drawn in the same spirit as the letterforms. The design makes no claim to typographic rigour, presenting itself instead as a seasonal, decorative tool for packaging, poster and scrapbook applications.
Classification
Hand-drawn letterforms with lace-like texture created through OpenType alternates and discretionary ligatures, placing it firmly in the informal script/hand-lettering category.
