A 2018 revival of Paul Renner's 1928 display typeface Plak, co-designed by Toshi Omagari and Linda Hintz, expanding the original's three widths into a 48-weight retail family with a companion text subfamily.
About
Where Futura pursued idealised geometric purity, Plak took a more mechanical path, and Neue Plak honours that distinction rather than smoothing it away. The revival preserves the quirky per-width details of the original – including the distinctive wide-cut lowercase r and the aggressively compressed capital proportions – interpolated from 12 lovingly crafted masters across 48 styles. A 12-style Neue Plak Text subfamily, including six italics, extends the family's range into body-copy settings.
