DynaPuff
Omega Type Foundry · Toshi Omagari · 2022

A variable casual display typeface commissioned by Google in 2022, designed with weight and width axes to power a dynamic sticker generator.
About
Drawn for Google's sticker generator engine, the typeface uses variable axes to let software adjust letterforms without direct designer input. To sustain the illusion of casual hand-lettering, four alternate drawings were created for each letter, cycling in a perceptually random sequence. The result is a rounded, friendly face whose variability was conceived as an invisible mechanism rather than a typographic tool.
Classification
A casual, rounded display typeface with hand-lettering influences. Its friendly, inflated letterforms and variable weight and width axes place it firmly in the casual display category.
