Plastic
Obrysy · Jitka Schneider and Ivana Palečková · 2018

A decorative variable display face inspired by the plastic hook-chain toys of communist-era Czechoslovakia.
About
Plastic takes its cue from 'Céčka', a fad for collecting C-shaped plastic hooks in 1980s Czechoslovakia that kids strung into bracelets and necklaces. The Chain cut plays up the hooked serif shapes for display use, while Simple strips them back for smaller sizes. Built as a variable font across weight and a 'gaps' axis controlling how open the hooks read.
Classification
Exaggerated, hook-shaped serifs referencing plastic toy chains from communist-era Czechoslovakia place this as a decorative display face rather than a text serif.
