serifglyphic serif
Cinzel specimen from Natanael Gama

An inscriptional serif drawing on first-century Roman letterforms, available in three weights with a variable font and support for over 25 Latin-script languages.

About

Cinzel takes its proportions from classical Latin inscriptions whilst avoiding straight revivalism, blending ancient epigraphic origins with a contemporary sensibility. The family spans Regular, Bold and Black weights with a variable font axis, and includes discretionary ligatures, old-style numerals and stylistic sets. Its all-caps character makes it well suited to titling, display and editorial contexts where gravitas is required.

Classification

Inspired by first-century Roman lapidary inscriptions, Cinzel draws on classical Latin letterform proportions with incised, epigraphic characteristics. The absence of a bracketed serif construction and its stone-carved origins place it firmly in the glyphic or inscriptional serif category.
