And All That is in Between specimen from Morcos Key

A bespoke Arabic-led typographic identity for the 2025 Islamic Arts Biennale in Jeddah, using the tatweel as a visual metaphor for liminality and continuity across a 100,000 m² exhibition.

About

Designed by Morcos Key for the Diriyah Biennale Foundation, the system draws on Qur'anic expressions of the space between heaven and earth, east and west. Gallery names stretch across compositions via the tatweel, a horizontal extension mark in Arabic script, linking historical objects and contemporary commissions through a single typographic gesture. The identity spans signage, graphics and catalogues across five exhibition halls and outdoor spaces.

Classification

A bespoke typographic identity system rooted in Arabic lettering and multi-script design, using the tatweel (kashida) as a central visual device. Its exhibition and editorial application places it firmly in the display category.
