Hela specimen from Moontype

A narrow geometric grotesque by Julia Flomm, with rounded corners softening its grid-based construction, currently available in a single Light weight as the first style of a planned family.

About

Designed from 2018 onwards, Hela takes its name from the HeLa cell line and combines a space-efficient narrow proportion with geometric construction and subtly rounded corners. The rounded details introduce an organic quality that offsets the strict grid origins without compromising legibility at text sizes. A full grotesk family is planned, with the Light style serving as the initial release.

Classification

A narrow geometric grotesque with rounded corners softening its grid-based construction. The combination of strict geometry and organic corner rounding places it firmly in the geometric grotesque subcategory.
