Banana Mono specimen from Monkey Type

The monospace companion to Banana Grotesk, with seven matched weights and italics carrying its curved grotesque character into fixed-width territory.

About

Banana Mono carries the warmth of Banana Grotesk into fixed-width formats, with weights and proportions aligned across both families for consistent pairing. The design traces back to Mitch Paone sketching Akzidenz-Grotesk from memory, with Gill Facia's character folded in, most visible in the a, g, and f. Seven weights from Extralight to Extrabold, each with a matching italic, make it viable standalone for editorial or coding work as well as within brand systems.

Classification

Monospace grotesque companion to Banana Grotesk. Shares the same curved humanist-inflected letterforms derived from Akzidenz-Grotesk sketched from memory, with Gill Facia characteristics visible particularly in the a, g, and f. Weights are precisely matched to the proportional family across all seven cuts.
