Ahkio specimen from Melvastype

A five-weight disconnected brush script drawn from 1930s sign painting and showcard lettering, with soft rounded forms and gently curved stems suited to display use.

About

Ahkio takes its character from mid-century sign painting traditions, translating the informal energy of hand-lettered showcards into a digital family with a contemporary edge. Soft, rounded letterforms and subtly curved stems give the face a warm, approachable quality across five weights from Thin to Black. The range of weights allows for typographic contrast in titles, packaging, logos and poster work.

Classification

Ahkio is a disconnected brush script with roots in 1930s sign painting and showcard lettering, characterised by soft rounded forms and curved stems rather than connected cursive strokes.
