A reverse-contrast display family drawing on Aldine wood type traditions of the 19th century, offered across five widths and five weights for headline and poster use.
About
The heavy serifs create a reverse-contrast effect that reads well at large sizes, making Vallecito well suited to posters, signage and editorial headlines. Twenty-five styles spanning extra-condensed to extra-wide widths, each in five weights from Light to Black, give considerable flexibility for typesetting at varying column widths. The design is distributed through Monotype.
Classification
Based on Aldine-styled 19th-century wood types with heavy serifs producing a reverse-contrast effect; the exaggerated serifs and attention-grabbing construction place it firmly in the display category.
