Originally based on lettering Goudy produced for the National Biscuit Company in 1901, the typeface carries an American warmth that sets it apart from the strictly Venetian models that influenced much of his other work. Matteson's expansion adds semibold and bold weights with matching italics, making it practical across both running text and headline settings. Small capitals, old-style numerals and lining numerals extend its typographic range.
