Xunga specimen from Manufacturas Tipográficas Madrileñas

A bold, variable display face by Juanjo López that combines sign-painter uppercase with flat-brush reverse-contrast lowercase across five widths and three stress-height positions.

About

Xunga organises its 15 fonts not by weight but by width and the vertical position of horizontal stress, allowing designers to shift letter weight to the top, middle or bottom of each glyph. The family covers five widths from Condensed to Ultra Expanded, making it well suited to filling a page with bold, assertive layouts. Its 632-glyph set includes ligatures, contextual alternates, catchword ligatures and localised forms for European languages and Vietnamese.

Classification

A bold display typeface combining sign painter uppercase letterforms with reverse-contrast flat-brush calligraphic lowercase, making it firmly a display face with decorative and expressive intent rather than a text or body typeface.
