Gustan Signa
Lux Typo · Greg Lindy · 2018

A six-style display family designed for sign-making and badge work, using parentheses, brackets and braces as structural design elements via OpenType contextual alternates.
About
Gustan Signa extends the broader Gustan Collection with a system built around enclosures: typing any text within parentheses, square brackets or braces triggers contextual alternates that transform the delimiters into decorative end brackets. The family comes in two subfamilies, Linea and Solida, each in three weights, with identical spacing throughout so styles can be stacked for layered display effects or simple frame animations. Coverage is limited to basic Latin and Latin extended.
Classification
A display family built around bracketed enclosures and sign-making conventions rather than conventional letterform classification. Its defining feature is the use of parentheses, brackets and braces as design elements to create badges and motifs via OpenType contextual alternates.
