Colette Saltine specimen from Lux Typo

A rough display face by Greg Lindy, developed from the thumbnail sketches made during the creation of the original Colette, with OpenType contextual alternates cycling through five variants per character to produce an organic, hand-drawn texture.

About

Where the original Colette was refined digitally, Saltine deliberately retains the charm of its sketchbook origins, treating the unrefinement of those early thumbnails as a feature rather than a flaw. Three weights – Light, Regular and Bold – are available in OTF, TTF, WOFF and WOFF2 formats. The contextual alternates function cycles through five glyph variants per character, producing a varied, non-repeating texture across continuous text.

Classification

A display typeface derived from sketchbook thumbnails of the original Colette, intentionally preserving an unrefined, hand-drawn quality. The contextual alternates feature cycles through five character variants to simulate a random, organic texture, placing it firmly in the rough/display category.
