sans-serifhumanist sans
LDN Mixed specimen from London Type Foundry

A three-style humanist family spanning sans, semi-serif and slab registers, developed by Paul Harpin from his LDN Roman as a text-focused design suited to web use.

About

LDN Mixed moves through three degrees of serif articulation – Minimum (sans), Medium (semi-serif) and Maximum (slab serif) – offering a coherent spectrum within a single family. Harpin drew on the humanist tradition, citing New Johnston and Erik Spiekermann's Meta as touchstones, and adapted his existing LDN Roman as the starting point for the sans. The family works well as a text face and allows typographic play by alternating styles across characters in display settings.

Classification

A humanist family spanning three serif registers – Sans (Minimum), Semi Serif (Medium) and Slab Serif (Maximum) – rooted in the humanist tradition and drawing on influences from New Johnston and Meta. The sans base connects it firmly to the humanist sans category, with the slab and semi-serif variants forming related sub-families.
