Talon specimen from Lipton Letter Design

An ornamental condensed display typeface by Richard Lipton, developed from a handful of original capitals by Los Angeles designer Margo Chase and expanded into a complete Latin family.

About

Talon grew from a scattering of capital letters drawn by graphic designer Margo Chase, which Lipton used as a seed to build out a full display typeface including lowercase, figures and punctuation. The design channels the expressive, West Coast sensibility characteristic of Chase's work, filtered through Lipton's decades of calligraphic practice. A single Regular weight is offered, with OpenType features including stylistic alternates, stylistic sets, ligatures and ornaments.

Classification

A condensed ornamental display face with decorative letterforms rooted in calligraphic sensibility. Its highly stylised, expressive character places it firmly in the display category, unsuitable for text use.
