Lipton Letter Design · Richard Lipton

A single-weight ornate display face expanded by Richard Lipton from four original capitals drawn by Los Angeles lettering artist Margo Chase.
About
Margo Chase's four hand-drawn letters — E, C, R, U — formed the seed from which Richard Lipton derived a full condensed cap alphabet, then extended with a new lowercase, figures and punctuation. The result is a lively, ornate typeface suited to display work, with OpenType support for common ligatures, ordinal numerals and ornaments. Language support spans more than twenty Latin-script languages.
Classification
A condensed all-caps display face with an added lowercase, designed for decorative typesetting. Its ornate letterforms and origins in hand-drawn capitals place it firmly in the display category.
