Rawleigh takes its cue from British railway poster lettering of the 1920s and 30s. A distinctive flick appears where curves meet stems – most visible in the R and italic t – while V, N and other diagonal letters carry extremely pointed strokes. Nine weights from Thin to Poster with true italics and variable font support make it one of the more characterful British display faces of recent years.
Classification

The distinctive flick at curve-stem junctions and the pointed diagonals of letters like V and N are the defining features. The foundry describes it as 'humanist and geometric' – the humanist quality comes from the calligraphic flick and organic letter spacing; the geometric from the extremely sharp, constructed diagonals.
