Ross Antique Roman specimen from Letterhead Fonts

A two-font decorative roman set drawn from the lettering style found in Ross F. George's 1929 edition of the Speedball Text Book, with interchangeable alternates for hand-lettered variety.

About

The set ships as two companion fonts sharing the same character slots, allowing individual letters to be swapped between versions to break up repetition and simulate hand-drawn inconsistency. Each font adds eight bonus alternate glyphs, and the foundry recommends loose spacing for the most authentic period result. The design pays direct tribute to Ross F. George, the original author of the influential Speedball Text Book series.

Classification

A decorative period-style roman display face with hand-lettered qualities, rooted in early twentieth-century commercial lettering traditions as found in Speedball penmanship manuals.
