Resolute specimen from Letterhead Fonts

A layered display typeface inspired by early American packaging and signage lettering, with pronounced thick-thin contrast, decorative swashes and ornamental finials.

About

Designed by Mark Searfoss, Resolute is built around the aesthetic of 19th-century American commercial hand-lettering, combining utilitarian legibility with ornate flourishes. The family ships as three layerable components – Regular, Shadow and Outline – enabling composited effects, alongside a set of bonus alternate glyphs. Sweeping curves and thin finials give it a character the designer describes as a quirky elegance distinct from conventional display fonts.

Classification

A layered display typeface drawing on early American hand-lettering traditions, characterised by pronounced thick-thin stroke contrast, decorative swashes and thin finials. Not a true script but shares script-like stylistic DNA through its ornate curves and lettering-inspired forms.
