Old Block
Letterhead Fonts · Chuck Davis

A four-cut display family drawn from the hand-lettered advertising tins and signs of the early 1900s, available in regular and condensed widths each with a bold.
About
Designed by Chuck Davis, Old Block captures the idiosyncratic character of turn-of-the-century commercial lettering, including the slight irregularities that distinguish hand-painted signage from mechanically set type. The family ships in four styles: Regular, Regular Bold, Condensed and Condensed Bold. Letterhead Fonts notes that the newer LHF Supply Co. supersedes this set with further refinements.
Classification
A hand-lettered display type inspired by early 1900s advertising tins and signs, with the irregular quirks typical of vernacular American commercial lettering. Four-part family in regular and condensed widths.
