Flash Script
Letterhead Fonts · Arthur Vanson · 2013

A mid-century retro connected script in three fonts, completed posthumously from Arthur Vanson's unfinished 2013 project, featuring 77 swash alternates drawn in the style of Cecil Wade's Beauty Parlor lettering.
About
Flash Script is based on the Beauty Parlor plate created by sign-painter Cecil Wade, redrawn by his protégé Arthur Vanson. The set comprises two script fonts with differing cap treatments – one large and decorative, one smaller and casual – alongside a dedicated swash font where each key maps to a unique flourish. Letterhead Fonts completed the project after Vanson's death in 2013, working with his family to ensure the swashes matched his original style.
Classification
A connected cursive script with decorative capitals and swash variants, rooted in the mid-century American sign-painting and lettering tradition. Two cap styles and a dedicated swash font place it firmly in the decorative script category.
