Brooklyn
Letterhead Fonts · John Davis

An eight-font layered display family drawing on early 19th-century circus poster lettering, designed to be stacked for coloured shadow and overlay effects.
About
Inspired by the eye-catching handbills and posters produced for travelling circuses in the early 1800s, Brooklyn is built as a system of eight complementary fonts including shadow drops, block shadows, inside shadows, overlay patterns and a distressed variant. The layered approach allows each component to be coloured independently, making it straightforward to build period-accurate multi-colour compositions. It pairs naturally with other Victorian and Americana display faces.
Classification
A multi-layered Victorian-style display face inspired by early 19th-century circus poster lettering, with decorative shadow and overlay components typical of wood type showbills.
