Vanguardia specimen from Latinotype

A monolinear display serif with exaggerated terminals and diagonal cuts, spanning eight weights with matching italics and coverage of over 200 Latin languages plus a basic Cyrillic set.

About

Designed by Enrique Hernández and released in 2023, Vanguardia distinguishes itself from conventional serifs through its low stroke contrast and aggressively styled terminals on letters such as a, e, c and their uppercase counterparts. The diagonal cuts throughout the letterforms give the family a sharp, contemporary character suited to high-impact uses including logos, packaging and title typography. The 16-style family covers more than 200 Latin languages and includes a basic Cyrillic set.

Classification

A monolinear serif with low stroke contrast and exaggerated, dramatically cut terminals. The diagonal cuts and sculptural serifs place it firmly in the display serif territory despite covering a broad weight range.
