Beauchef
Latinotype · Juan Pablo de Gregorio · 2015

A sans serif commissioned for the University of Chile's Centre for Mathematical Modelling, built around rough strokes and deliberate departures from standard optical correction.
About
Designed by Juan Pablo de Gregorio and released in 2015, Beauchef was purpose-built for an academic mathematical institution, which informs its character: precise yet unconventional. The typeface features rough strokes and resists strict adherence to perceptual norms, giving it a distinctive tension between austerity and idiosyncrasy. Ten styles span five weights from Light to Black, each with a matching italic.
Classification
A sans serif with rough, manually-influenced strokes and subtle optical compensation that departs from strict geometric or grotesque construction, placing it closer to the humanist tradition with an idiosyncratic, avant-garde character.
