A hairline unicase of circles and lines, drawn after anonymous 1985 catalogue lettering that turned out to descend from Letraset's Cirkulus.
About
Cirk began as a private font for an LP cover by the band Sojuz, copied from lettering in a Ukrainian exhibition catalogue. Only after the drawings were finished did the foundry trace the source to Michael Neugebauer's Cirkulus (Letraset, 1970), with figures borrowed from a Cyrillic take on Premier Lightline. Vadym Axeev expanded, kerned and engineered the release.
Classification
Built from crossing circles and straight lines at the thinnest possible weight, mixing upper and lowercase Cyrillic forms into a unicase set. Pure display in the 1970 Letraset tradition of Cirkulus and Premier Lightline.
