The design takes its cues from the die-struck lowercase on two Victorian coins, where short ascenders and descenders were constrained to fit around the monarch's head. Hairline strokes are thicker than in conventional Old English, and the uppercase is narrower and less ornate than tradition dictates, bringing greater harmony between the two cases. Circular rather than rhombic punctuation reinforces the overall softness of the design.
