Mailart Rubberstamp specimen from K-Type

A slab serif built from rubber-stamped letterforms collected from mailart envelopes, combining the structure of Clarendon Condensed with an authentically worn, hand-stamped texture.

About

The letterforms originate from individually rubber-stamped characters found on printed and collaged envelopes sent by mailartists, giving the typeface an organic, distressed quality that purely digital designs cannot replicate. The family spans Regular and Bold weights, each with oblique companions, and has been refined with improved outlines, expanded European character coverage and tighter default spacing. A companion sans serif variant, Mailart Rubberstamp Sans, is also available from the same foundry.

Classification

Derived from rubber-stamped letterforms and the Clarendon Condensed typeface, placing it firmly in the slab serif tradition with a distressed, hand-stamped texture overlaid on its structure.
